This year, Verity One Ltd. co-founders Adam Reiser and Michelle Tan traveled to Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025. Their groundbreaking initiative, the Nutrient Credit System, took center stage as a transformative asset class to clean the world’s coastal waters, saltwater estuaries, and bays.

A New Asset Class for Sustainability

The Nutrient Credit System received significant attention for its innovative addressing of water pollution. By employing 10,000 oysters per credit, the system achieves measurable environmental benefits:

Daily Filtration Power

  • Each oyster filters between 50 and 130 gallons of water per day.
  • With 10,000 oysters, this results in:
    • 500,000 gallons per day (minimum)
    • 1,300,000 gallons per day (maximum)

18-Month Filtration Period

  • Over the course of 18 months (approximately 547 days), the total filtration capacity per credit is:
    • 273,500,000 gallons (minimum)
    • 710,100,000 gallons (maximum)

This natural filtration process removes nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), particulates, and microplastics, creating cleaner, safer water that fosters habitat regeneration, restores aquatic biodiversity, and improves the overall health of marine ecosystems.

"The visual impact of improved water clarity is undeniable," said Reiser. "Seeing the reduction in turbidity—particles and cloudiness—demonstrates the power of this system. A picture truly says a thousand words."

Engaging the Global Community

At Davos, Verity One presented their initiative in a breakout session during the forum and at the Climate Hub in the center of town, a space dedicated to fostering environmental collaboration. The Climate Hub brought together individuals and organizations passionate about saving the planet.

Among those they connected with was Nicole Keller, CEO of GreenUp, alongside other influential figures. These interactions highlighted the growing global interest in scalable solutions for environmental challenges.

Art and Advocacy

During their visit, a standout moment was witnessing The UnforeSeen Variable's unveiling, a striking sculpture displayed at the Climate Hub in Davos Plaza. Created by Veronica de Nogales in collaboration with Andrew Funk, the Homeless Entrepreneur, the piece raises awareness about global precarity and climate migration. It is a powerful reminder of the interconnected nature of environmental and social issues.

A Comprehensive Approach

Throughout their time in Davos, Reiser and Tan visited numerous "Houses" hosted by companies, NGOs, hedge funds, and government delegations. This gave them invaluable exposure and the opportunity to share their vision of a world where polluters can remediate their environmental impact without relying solely on government penalties.

Their host, Annette Selmeier of TheVine, guided the duo, providing introductions and insights that helped them maximize their impact during the event.

Building a Better Future

The Nutrient Credit System represents more than just an innovative technology—it is a pathway to a healthier planet. By offering polluters a tangible, effective means of remediation, Verity One enables industries to take responsibility for their environmental impact while contributing to the restoration of marine ecosystems.

As Verity One’s initiative gains traction, its potential to transform the world's coastal waterways into cleaner, more habitable environments offers hope for the future. Verity One is leading the way in sustainability and environmental innovation with this pioneering asset class.
